KENNEL TECH POSITION

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and animal living areas daily.

Feed animals according to established shelter schedules and dietary instructions.

Provide fresh water daily to all animals.

Maintain overall cleanliness and sanitation of the facility, including floors, bowls, bedding, and common areas.

Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, stress, or behavioral concerns and promptly report findings to shelter management.

Assist with basic animal care tasks as directed.

Follow established safety, sanitation, and animal handling procedures.

Maintain a compassionate and respectful attitude toward animals, volunteers, and staff.

Work Schedule: 

This is a part time position.

Approximately four (4) hours per day.

Additional hours may be required based on shelter needs.

All additional hours must be approved by LARAS House Shelter management.

The shelter operates on a 7 day a week, 365 day year schedule. Scheduled work days will be assigned to fit the shelter needs as well as the applicant if possible.

Compensation: $10.00 per hour

Payment Schedule: Weekly, each Wednesday. 

Contractor is responsible for accurately tracking and submitting hours worked through our timekeeping app. 

Approved additional hours will be compensated at the same hourly rate

Note: This position is classified as an Independent Contractor (1099). No benefits, overtime pay, retirement contributions, insurance, or paid leave are provided.

Qualifications:  18 years or older , drug free environment.

Ability to work independently and follow instructions

Comfort working around dogs and/or cats of varying sizes and temperaments

Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and cleaning

Reliable, punctual, and dependable

Commitment to humane treatment and animal welfare

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: 

Exposure to animals, cleaning chemicals, noise, and outdoor weather conditions

Regular lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing

Must follow all shelter safety and sanitation policies.
