Fostering pets is a serious responsibility. The policy of this adoption shelter is to ensure that each person who fosters a pet is aware of the responsibility, and is capable and willing to accept that responsibility morally, physically, and financially. Under no circumstances shall a foster adopt or give away a LARAS house animal without first speaking with a board/staff member. The following applies for all fosters.

LARAS HOUSE FOSTER PROTOCOL

FIRST VISIT:

  1. First set of shots. You will also be sent home with 5 days worth of wormer. ( Wormer must be given every day consecutively for 5 days, failure to do so, will result in having to start over)

  2. You will also be given enough wormer for a second round to be given for 3 days. This will begin 1 week after the 1st round has finished,

SECOND VISIT:

  1. Second set of shots

  2. Pictures for our intake system

  3. Microchipping for Petco adoption event.

10 days after the 2nd round of wormer, an appointment will be made for fecal testing. Fecal tests have to be negative to be able to go.

If any vet visits need to be made, please contact the shelter first. We can usually handle most issues prior to going to the vet. If an animal needs to go to the vet, a board member will schedule a visit for you. If you show up to the vet without this approval and appointment, the vet will not see you.

Puppies that have received their parvo shots must stay off of the ground.

Kittens must be kept indoors.

The following questionnaire has been designed to aid both you and the adoption shelter in deciding if you and/or your family are adequately prepared to assume the responsibility of fostering pets. Please be sure to answer all questions and feel free to add your own comments. If a question does not apply, please write ‘N/A’,
